Eczema, hives, rashes, and acne are very common skin conditions I have seen in the clinic. Eating healthy has a positive impact on the skin since these problems are a reflection of internal conditions of the body. A few additions to your diet can help to clear the skin by removing toxicity effectively, which facilitates the condition to heal properly. Here are some suggestions you can add to your diet to benefit the skin.

Yi Yi Ren (pearl barley): Yi Yi Ren is very mild but has powerful effects on the skin to reduce inflammation and water/pus accumulation both internally and externally. Simply add hot water to powdered Yi Yi Ren, stir, and consume as a porridge. To use externally, mix it with water or milk to make a facial mask. Then apply to clean skin for 20 minutes and rinse it off.

Mung Beans: These beans are a nutritional powerhouse as well as a major detoxifier. They are also known to induce urination, clear heat, and promote circulation. You can make a facial mask with mung bean powder, water, and lemon juice. Leave it on your skin for 20 minutes and rinse it off.

Seaweed: Seaweed is considered cold in nature by traditional Chinese medicine. It has long been thought to regulate toxins in the body, absorbing any substances that are potentially harmful. Notably, it cools heat on the skin and improves circulation for glowing skin.

Cucumber: naturally beneficial to the skin, cucumber also clears lung and stomach heat. Simply put slices of cucumber on your skin for 20 minutes for an instant skin moisturizing effect.

Bitter melon: bitter melon has a medicinal effect that powerfully clears heat and toxins. Eating bitter melon is great for treating acne and gum inflammation.
