Gan Cao - Licorice Root

Channels:  All 12, but mainly the HT, LU, SP, ST

Properties:  Sweet, Neutral


Actions:

bullet

Tonifies Spleen/Stomach Qi and strengthens Qi

bullet

Tonifies Heart Qi and regulates the pulse

bullet

Moistens the Lungs and stops cough, dispels phlegm

bullet Toxin antidote - stir-fry with honey for drug poisoning; use with Xing Ren for lead poisoning.
bullet

Harmonizes and regulates other herbs in a formula

bullet

Clears Heat and Fire Toxins

bullet Stops pain and spasms - Especially good for  stomachache, abdominal pain and spasm, and muscle pain and spasm.

Cautions & Contraindications:

bullet Do not use with high blood pressure or edema
