From "Zang Fu Syndromes," by McDonald and Penner

English: Preserve Harmony Pill

Also known as: Citrus and Crataegus Formula, or Pills for Indigestion (Patent)

Ingredients
    Latin Pinyin Dosage Actions
    Fr. Crataegi Shan Zha 9-15g Reduces all types of Food Stagnation especially meat and fatty foods.

    With Lai Fu Zi and Shen Qi, reduces stagnation and accumulation caused by overindulgence in food and drink of all types.

    Massa Fermentata Shen Qu 4-12g Reduces stagnant alcohol and food.
    Sm. Raphani Lai Fu Zi 2-12g Descends Qi and reduces accumulation of Phlegm from stagnant grains.

    With Shan Zha, Shen Qu and Chen Pi, for abdominal distention, borborygmus, belching and acid regurgitation due to stagnation in ST or Intestines.

    With Ban Xia, for distention and vomiting due to Food Stagnation.

    Per. Citri Reticulatae Chen Pi 2-9g Transforms Phlegm and descends Qi.

    With Ban Xia, moves Qi and transforms stagnation to harmonize ST and stop nausea and vomiting.

    Rz. Pinelliae Ban Xia 6-12g Descends Qi, transforms Phlegm, harmonizes ST and reduces distention.

    With Chen Pi, for ST Qi disharmony with epigastric and abdominal distention or pain.

    Scl. Poriae Cocos Fu Ling 6-12g Strengthens SP, drains Dampness, harmonizes MJ and transforms Phlegm.

    With Ban Xia, expels Phlegm and stops nausea and vomiting.

    Fr. Forsythiae Lian Qiao 2-9g Clears Heat due to stagnation.
    (Fr. Hordei Germinatus) (Mai Ya) (3-9g) (May be added to reduce stagnation from grains.)

    Distention and fullness in the chest and epigastrium

    Rotten smelling belching

    Nausea and vomiting

    Maybe diarrhea

    Bad breath

    Abdominal distention with occasional pain

    Acid regurgitation

    Aversion to food

    Anorexia

    Maybe constipation

    T: Pink
    C: Yellow and greasy
    P: Slippery

Treats
    Acute gastroenteritis

    Hepatitis

    Acute or chronic cholecystitis

    Gastralgia

    Acute exacerbation of chronic gastroenteritis

    Acute pancreatitis

    Indigestion

    Gastro-intestinal influenza

Contraindications

    SP Xu.

    For more severe
